ATHLETE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING
RESEARCH
Program creation starts with research.
We begin by looking at the demands of the sport, which muscles will be recruited and which movement patterns will be used by the athlete.
We then look at common injuries and the biomechanics and kinesiology involved in the sport to help us learn why these injuries may be prevalent. Once we have established this we can begin to develop a program designed to create the most balanced athlete possible focusing on both performance and injury prevention.
Using this method this gives us a great picture of the end goal we are aiming to achieve to keep our athlete performing better for longer, which will ultimately improve their performance.

BASELINE TESTING DAY
Once we know where we are aiming to be, we need to know where we are starting from.
Although we will have an idea of the exercises we are likely to incorporate into the program to work on the areas we have already identified, we still need an understanding of the athletes current ability to move.
Depending on if we are working individually with athletes or with a team we will set up a testing day where we come to a squad training session and perform multiple tests to get a sport relevant baseline fitness score for each athlete.
These baseline scored will then go on to inform the program we create.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
We will use the results of the baseline testing day to devise an athlete specific training program based on maximising physical performance and minimising injury occurence.
These sessions can either be delivered in person by one of our team or, for convenience and to make it easier for team members to complete their training, we can deliver the program through an app.
This unique approach allows each individual athlete to take ownership of their own program and complete the sessions when it suits them to fit around their usual weekly schedule.

We will also be able to monitor athlete progress and adherence through the app, meaning athletes finally become fully accountable for their own training and performance.

PERFORMANCE PYRAMID
With our conditioning programs we are aiming to create athletes who have a 'performance pyramid' which looks like this:

Base level - Movement Foundations. This is the athletes ability to move through basic movement patterns and can be assessed in a variety of ways, including the functional movement assessment.

Mid Tier - Performance. Once you have a baseline movement ability you begin to assess the athletes ability to produce power - their performance. This too can be assessed using a variety of different tests, an example of which would be the vertical leap. The test selection will depend somewhat on the demands of the sport.

Top Tier - Skill. Their skill needs to be equal to the demands of the game. This can be assessed through performance analysis, analysis of any prior competition and possible sport specific training.

If an athletes 'performance pyramid' is structured in such a way it makes them the most likely to perform well and avoid injury.
